How to fill it out
- Match the driver’s ID, carrier name and truck number to the appointment before the truck enters.
- Write the trailer and seal number for every loaded trailer, in and out.
- For outbound loads, confirm with shipping before release and write down who confirmed it.
- If anything doesn’t match, hold the truck and call — don’t guess.
Why the gate log matters
Most cargo theft today starts with deception — a driver or carrier that looks legitimate but isn’t. A gate log that ties every truck, driver and seal to a booked appointment makes those pickups much harder, and gives police and insurers what they need if something does go missing.
