How to fill it out
- Be specific: “check doors D1–D6 every hour,” not “patrol the building.”
- List who may enter and what ID they need.
- Spell out emergencies step by step — 9-1-1 first, then who.
- Have every officer read and sign before their first shift.
- Update them whenever the site changes.
What are post orders?
Post orders are the written instructions for a specific security post. They tell any officer — the regular one or a fill-in at 3 a.m. — exactly what this site expects: hours, duties, rounds, access rules, who to call and what to do in an emergency.
Clear post orders are the difference between consistent coverage and “the new guy didn’t know.” If you are hiring a security company, ask to see their post orders for your site.
General guidance, not legal advice. Follow your client’s post orders and your company’s procedures.
