How to fill it out
- Read the seal number off the seal itself — not just the paperwork.
- Check that the numbers match and the seal is intact: look at it, pull on it, twist it.
- Write down who applied or cut each seal, and when.
- Report any mismatch or damage before the trailer moves.
What a good seal check looks like
U.S. Customs’ seal guidance for CTPAT members calls for ISO 17712 high-security seals, a seal log, and checking that the seal number and location match the shipping documents. Many companies teach a simple routine: look at the seal, verify the number, pull on it and twist it to make sure it hasn’t been tampered with. Our log has a line for each step.
